The Festool TP-STF-DX93 backing plate (item number 488717) is Festool’s ingeniously simple and extremely economical solution to this problem. Instead of replacing the entire, expensive sanding shoe on your machine, thanks to the modular design, you simply swap out this thin, high-precision replacement hook-and-loop plate.

StickFix system: Full adhesion, rapid changeover

The backing plate is fitted on the front with the tried-and-tested, heat-resistant StickFix hook-and-loop fabric. This guarantees a rock-solid hold for your Delta abrasives (e.g. Festool Granat or Rubin 2 in V93 format) – even under heavy-duty, continuous use. The back is precisely contoured so that it slides or clicks onto the base sanding shoe of your Festool machine perfectly, with a form-fit, and without tools. One simple step is all it takes, and your delta sander will once again have a brand-new hook-and-loop grip right down to the very tip!

Pro tip for maximum service life

To minimise wear on the hook-and-loop tips when sanding in rebates, window frames or internal corners, it is best to work with reduced contact pressure. Let the machine’s speed and the abrasive grain (e.g. Festool Granat) do the work. Should the tip nevertheless become blunt after prolonged use, you can simply remove the backing plate for many applications and reattach it rotated by 120 degrees – this way you make full use of all three corners of the backing plate before you need to fit a new one!
