High-performance epoxy adhesive for structural industrial bonding
3M Scotch-Weld DP420NS is a two-component epoxy structural adhesive for high-strength, durable structural bonding in industrial environments. It combines excellent shear strength, high peel resistance and very good environmental resistance in a high-performance 2K system.
Thanks to an open time of approx. 20 minutes, components can be positioned precisely. The thixotropic, non-flowing setting allows for gap-filling applications and secure bonding to vertical surfaces. The bond is handleable after approx. 2.5 hours at 23 °C.
Mechanical performance data
Overlap shear strengths of up to 26–29 MPa are achieved on aluminium. The roll peel strength is 11.4 N/mm. The tensile strength is approx. 39.6 MPa with a Shore D hardness of 82. These values make DP420NS a reliable structural adhesive for demanding constructions.
Temperature and environmental resistance
The adhesive exhibits stable performance values in a temperature range from -40 °C to 200 °C. High strength is maintained even under continuous exposure to moisture (85 °C / 85 % RH), diesel, petrol, salt water or water. The glass transition temperature (Tg) is approx. 73 °C. DP420NS also meets the requirements of UL 94 HB.

Areas of application
Typical areas of application are mechanical and plant engineering, metal constructions, vehicle and body construction, and industrial structural bonding with high requirements for fatigue strength and durability.
Processing
The mixing ratio is 2:1 (by volume). The adhesive is supplied in the 3M EPX dual-chamber cartridge system and enables clean, reproducible processing with static mixing nozzles. For optimum adhesion
,
surfaces must be clean, dry and free of oxides, oils and release agents.
