Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (Component A)
Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (Component A): The molecular revolution for your wood Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (Component A) is far more than a conventional wood oil. It is a technological masterpiece that protects and colours through molecular bonding – all in a single step. As a professional craftsman or joiner, you are supplied here with the pure A-component, i.e. the base oil without added hardener. Why is this important? It offers you maximum flexibility. Whether you use the oil as a single-component (1C) product for low-traffic areas or mix it for high-performance surfaces – you retain full control over your project. ⚡ Unbeatable benefits for joiners & industry No film formation : The oil bonds molecularly with the wood fibres. The result is an extremely natural finish without a ‘plastic look’. No-streak application : Overlaps or double-coating are physically impossible, as the oil only bonds where the fibre is still exposed. Excellent coverage : Thanks to its concentration, you only need approx. 30–50 m² per litre. One coat is enough! Environment & Health : 0% VOC, certified to Eurofins Air Comfort Gold and safe for food contact. One oil – two application methods This product has exactly the same formulation as in our 2C complete set. The difference lies in how you apply it : 1. The 1C application (single-component) Ideal for vertical surfaces, decorative features or furniture subject to normal wear and tear. The oil cures on exposure to air (full load-bearing capacity after approx. 21 days). 2. The 2C application (two-component) For floors, stairs or kitchen worktops, we strongly recommend adding the B-component. This accelerates full curing to approx. 7 days and massively increases durability. Do you require maximum durability? Here you will find the right Rubio Monocoat Accelerator (B-component). Technical data & identification Specification Details Manufacturer Rubio Monocoat Contents Component A (Pure oil) Coverage Extremely economical (approx. 30–50 m²/L) Properties 0% VOC, Toy standard EN 71-3, Food contact Professional tip for the perfect result To achieve the unique finish, the most important step is dry polishing. Apply the oil thinly, allow it to react briefly, then polish off the excess completely with a cloth or a polishing machine (beige or white pad). The surface must not feel sticky after polishing. Trust the original from Rubio Monocoat – the wood oil that inspires craftsmen worldwide.
Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A+B)
Colour and protection in a single coat Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A+B) is a high-quality two-component wood oil for untreated timber in interior applications. The oil colours and protects the wood in a single application, making it ideal for anyone seeking a natural wood finish, high durability and time-saving application. Whether it’s a wooden floor, table top, staircase, piece of furniture or worktop: Oil Plus 2C ensures an even, attractive finish without forming a thick layer. The wood retains its natural look and feel, whilst being reliably protected. The product is particularly effective wherever high-quality results are required and multiple coats are not an option. Why Oil Plus 2C is so popular Colours and protects in just one coat Very economical, covering approx. 30–50 m²/L 0% VOC, contains no water or solvents Natural finish without overlaps or brush marks Suitable for many types of wood and interior surfaces Cures faster and is more resistant to abrasion, water and heat Particularly well suited to these projects Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C is an excellent choice for joiners, carpenters, parquet layers, interior fitters and discerning DIY enthusiasts. The product is particularly suitable for highly visible wooden surfaces where aesthetics and everyday practicality must go hand in hand – for example, dining tables, kitchen worktops, stair treads, bathroom furniture, built-in furniture and wooden floors. The oil is also ideal for projects with high quality standards: according to the manufacturer, it has been tested for safe food contact, and treated wood is even suitable for children’s toys in accordance with EN 71-3. This instils confidence in surfaces that are regularly touched or subject to heavy use. Practical tip on colour selection If you wish to achieve as raw and light a wood look as possible, Natural or White 5% are often the better choice for light woods. Although Pure contains no pigment, it can slightly warm or darken the wood due to the natural hue of the linseed oil. It is always best to test on the original wood. Container sizes & coverage To ensure you don’t order too little or too much, here is a practical guide to standard container sizes : Containers Approx. coverage Recommended for 390 ml approx. 15 m² small furniture, table tops, stair treads, small batches, Test projects 1.3 litres approx. 52 m² several pieces of furniture, larger tables, kitchens, small to medium-sized floor areas 3.5 litres approx. 140 m² larger floor areas, extensive interior finishing projects, workshops and commercial premises Note: Actual coverage depends on the type of wood, sanding, absorbency and working method. Consumption may be higher on highly absorbent woods. Application at a glance Prepare the surface : Sand the wood clean and remove all dust thoroughly. For furniture, stairs and worktops, a final sanding of 100–150 grit is standard; for floors, 100 grit. Mix components A + B : Mix in a ratio of 3 : 1 before application and stir thoroughly for 1–2 minutes. Apply thinly : Apply the oil evenly, allow to react briefly and remove any excess completely. Allow to dry : The surface is dry after approx. 12–24 hours, can be cleaned when dry after 2 days and maintained with water and suitable cleaners after 5 days. Important notes Use only on untreated wood. Old coatings must be completely removed. The mixed solution is only workable for around 4–6 hours. For full performance, component B should always be used. Oil-soaked cloths must be placed in water after use, as there is a risk of spontaneous combustion. That’s why this wood oil is the first choice for many If you’re looking for a wood oil for furniture, floors, stairs and worktops that looks natural, offers strong protection and is efficient to apply, Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C (A+B) is a very convincing solution. FAQ's - Frequently asked questions
The Rubio Monocoat brand
Is Oil Plus 2C suitable for contact with food?
Yes, Oil Plus 2C has been tested by the independent testing institute Eurofins in accordance with the European Framework Regulation 1935/2004 for food contact materials. The test results confirm its suitability for food contact.
No, for Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C to work optimally, it must come into direct contact with the untreated wood fibres. Existing surface treatments should therefore be completely removed before the product is applied.
At the earliest 24 hours after applying Oil Plus 2C, the surface can be treated with SheenPlus to increase the lustre. Please note that SheenPlus should not be used on untreated wood.
Popular colours such as Pure, White 5% and Natural offer different effects. It is important to test samples on your specific wood to achieve the desired result.
No, Precolor Easy serves as a pre-treatment without a protective effect. After application, the surface should always be sealed with Oil Plus 2C.
Visible deposits can be removed by spraying clean water onto the affected area and working the surface with a polishing machine or a scrubbing brush with a red Rubio Monocoat pad. However, once the oil has been applied, this method can no longer be used.
A more intense colour can be achieved by adjusting the sanding method. A less smooth surface allows better absorption of the oil and results in a deeper colour. Alternatively, the combination with Precolor Easy can be considered.
In this case, the colour can be evened out with a cloth soaked in acetone. It is important to spread the product evenly and avoid puddles.
No, it is not recommended to dilute Pre-Aging with water as this may affect the product performance.
